To Live On
I’ve learned now
it’s easy to label your world with opinions
it’s easy to feel powerful by finding ways to judge others
but where does that lead you?
It takes more strength to know love
when all you’ve known is
hatred’s cold hand at play
It takes more strength
to tear down your own walls
when you’ve built them up to keep you safe
When despite it all
you let yourself laugh
with the light of the sun
dance like the stars across the sky
sing like a songbird in the midst of a storm
That is where true power lies
it’s finding the will
to live on.
Photo: I took this photo right in my front yard in 2017, I was outside with my dad as he was weeding the garden, just as the sunlight was falling over the flowers were covered with bees.
